Skilled Employees

Leverage the Skills of Baby Boomers

Most employers assumed that Baby Boomers would go quietly into retirement, collecting social security and living off their 401k investments. But the financial market developments of the past 20-25 years have led skilled employees from the Baby Boomer generation to remain in the job market. Some are working part time and some are working full time.

U.S. employers have yet to alter their structure and workload to accommodate the use of these skilled employees. Hiring employees as temporary employees, through an employment contract or even in job sharing situations is a great way to leverage the employee skill and help your company to achieve the results you want.

As a seasoned, experienced employee pool, these skilled employees are dedicated to excellence and have the management experience and knowledge to make a contribution in just about any company. Because their children and grown and gone and their parents may also be gone, the Baby Boomer has little family disruption and is less likely to miss work.

These skilled employees will pass an employee skill assessment with flying colors and happily perform any and all tasks in a job. You will not have to beg these skilled employees to perform. They were raised during a different time and are not going to ask for a lot of favors or expect overnight promotions.

By using Baby Boomers to augment your skilled employee base, you will have an experienced team of employees who will probably be in the work force for a long time. Most Baby Boomers cannot afford to retire in this economy so you should not be afraid you will lose the resource. Given the smaller size of the millennial generation, the employment pool will also be smaller in size. Using skilled employees from the Baby Boomer generation is a great way to make the difference and your younger employees will learn something from their older colleagues in the process.
